Walter Jehne is an internationally known Australian soil microbiologist and climate scientist. He is the founder of Healthy Soils Australia.

This is the short version of how Jehne describes healthy soil as a sponge: it is able to absorb water--rather that allow runoff and flooding--and give off moisture as well as biologic and mineral matter.
