THE Australian Meat Industry Council has announced the appointment of its general manager of industry affairs, Tim Ryan, as interim chief executive officer while it undertakes the process of selecting the next permanent CEO.

AMIC chair Tom Maguire said Mr Ryan’s appointment as interim CEO will allow for AMIC to continue executing the organisation’s strategic plan.

“Tim’s appointment as interim CEO will ensure continuity in AMIC’s vision for a profitable, viable and sustainable Australian meat industry that is valued by the wider community.

“AMIC is in great hands with Mr Ryan, while the board conducts a comprehensive recruitment process for our permanent CEO.” said Mr Maguire.

Since joining AMIC in 2022, Tim has been instrumental in addressing some of the most critical issues facing the meat industry across all sectors, including changes to animal welfare standards, advocating for retail member interests in competition inquiries, and pushing back on scope creep of dietary guidelines.

Mr Ryan said he was honoured to take on the role and is focused on representing all AMIC members:

“I am honoured to step into the role of interim CEO and am committed to ensuring that AMIC continues to provide strong leadership and representation for all our retail, processing and smallgoods members.

“Together with the Board and our dedicated team, we will maintain our focus delivering value for all our members and being the trusted voice on the issues that matter to our industry.”

“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Patrick Hutchinson for his dedicated service and significant contributions to AMIC during his time as CEO. I wish him all the best in his future endeavours.” said Mr Ryan.
